I'm pretty much at this point certain I'm not playing GTA IV again until I get a new computer, which will not be any time soon (if it even works on the new one).

For "fun" I tried launching with each of those checked, all of those checked, in compatibility mode for 7, 10, XP service pack 3. I have "Run in 256 color", "Run in 640x480 screen res", "Disable Visual Themes", "Disable Desktop Composition", and "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". When I go into Compatibility on either of those files Properties, I don't have that as an option. The thing that is currently irritating me the most is that there are comments upon comments out in the forums saying that the above combined with going into Properties on GTAIV.exe or GTAIVlauncher.exe, going to Compatibility, and then disabling Full Screen Optimization will allow the game to launch and play. I've done the steps multiple times, and it has not had any effect really. So, I found this on how to fix that error. If I'm opening as Admin, I see the message: Seculauncher: Failed to Start Application. When I do that and try to launch the game, I get Social Club to pop up, and I click Play. I have gone here and downloaded the 8.0 patch as the forums indicated I should. I'm running Windows 7 Home on this beast still. My computer is old and crap, but it's run the game before without issue (I just had to remove it for a while, but I now have room for it again). I am definitely one of them, but it's basically my favorite game ever and I'd love to play it again. So, I've poked around the internet and I see that getting GTA IV to work is kind of a pain for a lot of folks.
